Endurance Saddles
Since endurance riding requires the horse and its rider to cover about 50 to 100 miles in one day, the endurance saddle is designed to endure this type of competition by being sturdy enough to withstand long rides but lighter in weight. It is also fitted out with ties and dees for securing the necessary accessories for a grueling ride which includes steep and rugged terrain. It is also constructed in such a way that it allows for close contact with the horse and minimizes bulk.

The common features of an endurance saddle is the following: very comfortable and usually padded seats for use in long hours of riding, no horn since it might poke the rider in the stomach during posting, jumping trail obstacles or when standing while trotting, rounded and very short skirt for lesser weight, comfortable deep stirrups, single rigging in center fire position to prevent tipping, smaller and lighter weight and a number of rigging dees and strings to secure the gear.
