Saddle Parts

Video showing some of the main parts of the western saddle. There is the saddle horn or the pommel which differs from a English saddle. This is because western saddles were first invented for roping. This gave you something to tie your rope around if you where chasing after a cow.

Then you have the cantle which is this back part of the saddle. You have of course the seat and a saddle skirt. You have your cinch and the long strap which is around the other side of the saddle is called your billet strap and this what you hook your cinch to so you can tighten your girth for your saddle to stay on.
