The following features are usually found in a pleasure or trail saddle:  Thinner horn for better hold, higher fork to keep the rider secure in the saddle, a padded seat, cantle is of medium height with the dish pronounced for reason of comfort, a cutout or round skirt to decrease bulk and weight, fenders placed underneath the rider's body, double and in-skirt rigging, wide stirrup tread to create comfort and stability, lighter weight, a breast collar for purposes of stopping the saddle from sliding backwards especially when going downhill and a number of saddle strings to tie the gears and jackets.
